Mold

(Dan Steven)
2000
Dan Steven
Dan wrote this as he walked out of school at Chatham Christian High one afternoon. He'd been at a Young People's campfire the night before at the Zondervan's, friends from Calvary Church, and the mosquitoes had been viscious.
M O L D

pieces of mold, pieces of mold grow on my peanut butter sandwich ....
i can’t control it anymore

hey, what are you eating? nothing, nothing ...
i can’t control it anymore, yeah
pieces of mold, pieces of mold grow on my peanut butter sandwich .....

i was at a bonfire last night and all the mosquitoes were biting me
i was at a bonfire last night and all the mosquitoes were sucking my blood
i was at a bonfire last night and all these mosquitoes were biting me

couldn’t blame the thunder when the psychopathic hourglass broke in my hands
no i couldn’t help you darling if i tried
you see I’m a little crazy myself, i try to go through these days
but i’m sitting on the very back porch of insanity, i,i,i,i,i, couldn’t come back to the same monotony that broke me once before
you know, no way out now, this is it, i’ve gotta flee,
and i’m sorry for the inconvenience, i don’t mean to shatter your perceptions again
such a burden infinitely, this grief i bear, that’s me, that’s me

sorry that i scare you but you gotta realize that i scare myself more than you could imagine
but these days are short and i see no point in engaging in irrelevance, try to understand
many people, many roads, many people, many different ways of perception
but the truth remains
seventeen, seventeen, and spinning right out of my mind
seventeen, seventeen, and spinning right out of my mind

pieces of mold, pieces of mold grow on my peanut butter sandwich
pieces of mold, pieces of mold grow on my peanut butter sandwich
pieces of mold, pieces of mold grow on my peanut butter sandwich
spinning right out of Control
